AdSociety Joins Forces with Interactive Media to Reach into German-Speaking Markets

HONG KONG, March 2, 2001 -
AdSociety, the first pan-Asian broadband advertising, marketing and sales network and a majority-owned joint venture of Pacific Century CyberWorks (SEHK:0008, NYSE:PCW [ADR]) has announced a strategic sales partnership with Interactive Media ContentSuite AG, a leading online information services provider and the largest provider of teletext services in Germany. Interactive Media is part of publishing house giant Axel Springer Verlag's Multimedia, which owns several online titles including popular German online publications BILD online and Die WELT online; two of many titles marketed by Interactive Media.
Through the partnership, AdSociety will now have access to German-speaking markets in Europe, primarily Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, where Interactive Media's media content has large loyal readerships. According to a report from online research firm, eMarketer, Germany is at the forefront of Europe's online advertising market. The firm predicts that the total figure for online ad spending will reach an estimated US$6.4 billion by the end of 2005 from US$901 million in 2000. Online ad spending in Europe over the next 5 years will be fuelled by Germany who will represent US$1.9 billion, 31% of total spending in Europe in 2005. AdSociety presents to Interactive Media the Asian gateway for Interactive Media's clients to advertise and market their services in Asia, through its growing umbrella of online advertising solutions and its Asian reach of Web publishers. AdSociety currently operates in Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo. Due to the rise in popularity of the Internet and online services in Europe in recent years, Interactive Media also markets and produces online projects- 24 websites to date, making it the second most important player in German language online marketing. As part of its online portfolio, Interactive Media also sells advertising space for Europe's largest Internet Service Provider t-online (www.t-online.de) as well as for Infoseek Deutschland which owns www.infoseek.de, one of the biggest European search engines. The company has formed a partnership with Business TV International to provide a TV information and data channel for the media sector.
