E-Book Systems’ Releases FlipTimes™, the World’s First Mass Marketed FlipBook™ with Advertisements | ||

SANTA CLARA, CA—(June 26, 2001) E-Book Systems, a third generation user interface technology company, today announced the release of FlipTimes™, the world’s first monthly Internet newsletter that is e-mailed in a book format complete with flipping pages and streaming content. The newsletter also marks the first time Internet advertisements are displayed in an online book format. Computer users can now view online advertisements in a format other than the obtrusive banner, pop-up and other formats. The newsletter showcases E-Book Systems’ FlipBrowser™ technology (awarded a Best of Show award at InternetWorld). FlipBook™ technology allows Internet users to see advertisements posted in a format that is visually more appealing and one for which we are all familiar—in a traditional book-like form, with realistic 3D turning pages. FlipBook™ technology allows advertisers to utilize the same business model and formats available in traditional print media – full, half and quarter page ads – that can be seamlessly utilized in a fully integrated advertising campaign. The
FlipBook™
ad format combines the best of the Internet with the best of real-world
newspaper and magazine functionalities. Full-page advertisements are
effective and unobtrusive, and they can be “flipped” away (just like
those in a magazine). The
FlipBrowser’s contents are pre-streaming, meaning that users will not have
to wait for advertisements to download. For a first-hand look at FlipTimes™, the first mass market distribution of E-Book System’s revolutionary format, go to http://www.flipbrowser.com/newsletter/v1i5/newsletter.htm. Advertisers, advertising agencies and online networks participating in this trial run include: GetRelevant (www.getrelevant.com), AdSociety Group, Asia’s first broadband and wireless sales network (www.AdSociety.com), Shutterport (www.shutterport.com), Zip Publishing (www.zippublishing.com), and G2000 Apparel (www.G2000.com.hk). "We're very proud to become E-Book's first sales partner in Asia. Our relationship enables us to deliver this innovative and compelling ad format to Asian advertisers. We firmly believe the FlipBook™ format will prove to be a winner in the new economy media environment and we are very pleased to be able to bring G2000 Apparel into this revolutionary trial test" said Patrick Jonathan Wong, founder and CEO, AdSociety Group. “We
are excited to be one of the first advertising agencies to try this new
format. We’re looking forward to working with innovators like E-Book
Systems,” said Mitchel Harad, CEO of GetRelevant. E-Book
is equally as excited. “We are thrilled that companies such as GetRelevant and AdSociety, with their strong reputations in the advertising industry, have chosen to give our innovative advertising format a try,” stated Michael McGaughy, VP of Strategic Alliances / Business Development. The
FlipBrowser™ Newsletter is available in both traditional HTML and the
innovative FlipBook™ format. The newsletter is distributed monthly over
the Internet to over 270,000 recipients, up from 160,000 in January 2001
when the newsletter began. About
