AdSociety takes part in the World’s first placement

of ads for E-Book System’s FlipTimes™

The First Online Mass Marketed FlipBook™ with Advertisements

Hong Kong, July 11, 2001 - AdSociety, the first pan-Asian broadband advertising, marketing, and sales network, and a majority-owned joint venture of PCCW (SEHK : 0008, NYSE : PCW [ADR]) has participated in the world’s first Internet advertisement in Creative Technology’s (NASDAQ : CREAF) E-Book Systems’ FlipTimes, the world’s first monthly Internet newsletter that is e-mailed in a book format complete with flipping pages, streaming content and ads.

AdSociety participated in the world’s first placement of advertisement on the behalf of leading Hong Kong-based retail group G2000 Apparel (www.g2000.com.hk) during E-Book Systems’ trial test campaign for FlipTimes.

The newsletter also marks the first time Internet advertisements are displayed in an online book format.  Internet users can now view online advertisements in a format other than banner, pop-up and other online formats.

"We're very proud to become E-Book's first sales partner in Asia.  Our relationship enables us to deliver this innovative and compelling new ad format to Asian advertisers.  We firmly believe the FlipBook™ format will prove to be a winner in the new economy media environment.  This partnership strengthens our continuous effort to bring Beyond-the-Banner products to the broadband and narrowband media platforms," said Patrick Jonathan Wong, Founder and CEO, AdSociety Group.

“We are thrilled that a company such as AdSociety, with their leadership position in the interactive advertising industry, has decided to participate in the trial of our innovative advertising format.  For the first time, they will be able to offer their clients a completely new, but still very familiar, way to serve Internet advertisements. Advertisers and users alike will benefit from this new intuitive human computer interface,” stated Michael McGaughy, VP of Strategic Alliances / Business Development, E-Books Systems.

FlipBook™ technology allows Internet users to see advertisements posted in a format that is visually more appealing and one for which we are all familiar—in a traditional book-like form, with realistic 3D turning pages.  It also allows advertisers to utilize the same business model and formats available in traditional print media – full, half and quarter page ads – that can be seamlessly utilized in a fully integrated advertising campaign.

Full-page advertisements are effective and unobtrusive, and they can be “flipped” away (just like those in a magazine).  The FlipBrowser’s contents are pre-streaming, meaning that users will not have to wait for advertisements to download.

For a first-hand look at FlipTimes™, the first mass market distribution of E-Book System’s revolutionary format, go to http://www.flipbrowser.com/newsletter/v1i5/newsletter.htm.

The FlipBrowser™ Newsletter is available in both traditional HTML and the innovative FlipBook™ format. The newsletter is distributed monthly over the Internet to over 270,000 recipients, up from 160,000 in January 2001 when the newsletter began.
