Cherrypicks officially launches its Mobile Marketing Platform February 28 2001, together with Hong Kong's mobile service provider Orange, following the successful completion of trial tests conducted with Orange mobile users, and subsequent tests with another leading mobile service operator in Taiwan. According to a recent report by IDC Asia Pacific, m-Commerce in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) will exceed US$36 billion by 2004, and wireless Internet users will soar to 142 million. Further more, the report states that given the explosion in mobile subscribers across the Asia Pacific region and recent wireless developments, mobile operators, equipment vendors, content providers and mobile merchants are investing heavily in Asia's wireless Internet opportunities as over-the-counter shopping shifts towards m-shop services. Through a customized Web-based interface, Cherrypicks merchants will have the flexibility to tailor make and action their own marketing mobile campaigns on multiple channels including SMS, WAP and the Internet. Its Web-based environment also provides clear development and tracking mechanisms to monitor and analyse user behaviour and the results of ad campaigns. The Java-based Mobile Marketing Platform is robust and fully scalable and consists of ten major software modules, which enables mobile operators and merchants to easily implement, and add applications and protocols for new devices and next-generation wireless technologies. At the user level, Cherrypicks' platform is based on a permission-based mechanism, which ensures that all mobile users have previously consented to receiving respective mobile advertising services. User preferences will be based upon time, interests as well as profile preferences and a well-designed database engine ensures up-to-date and consistent cross checking of user data to ensure that the strictest data integrity and privacy guidelines are adhered to.
