AdSociety Appoints Top m-advertising Executive to Target Key Wireless & Mobile Advertising Markets in Asia

HONG KONG, February 8, 2001 - AdSociety, the first pan-Asian broadband advertising, marketing and sales network and a majority-owned joint venture of PCCW (SEHK: 0008, NYSE : PCW [ADR]), today announced the senior appointment of Patrick Chiu as director of m- advertising. In his new role, Patrick will pioneer AdSociety's aggressive rollout of m-advertising and wireless solutions in the region and strengthen the company's proposition as the leading broadband advertising company in Asia.

As director of m-advertising, Patrick's responsibilities include the formation of m-advertising strategies, and the integration of the latest wireless advertising ventures and technologies on wireless platforms and mobile devices throughout Asia. Japan, Korea and China have been recognized by AdSociety and identified by industry analysts as the key target markets that will lead the wireless revolution in Asia. In full support, AdSociety has already secured several solid local partnerships in each respective market and has a fully operational network of eight offices in the region.

According to a recent Ovum report, in year 2002, the amount of m-advertising expenditure in Asia will swell to US$409 million compared to US$7million in year 2000. The huge surge in m- advertising growth in Asia over the next two years was derived from huge forecasts for Japan, South Korea and China, which are expected to spend US$301 million, US$50 million and US$7 million respectively. In 2003, the m-advertising market in Asia is set to leapfrog to US$1.2 billion, and to US$4.7 billion in year 2005.

Prior to joining AdSociety, Patrick was director of wireless, Asia Pacific for DoubleClick Inc (NASDAQ: DCLK), where he spearheaded the business development of targeted wireless advertising initiatives and worked closely with leading mobile service carriers, content aggregators, and major wireless portals across the region. Patrick also held various positions for Motorola Asia Pacific and was involved in the development of WAP application programs utilizing Motorola's WAP development toolkits and mobile handsets. In addition, he has sales and distribution experience working in the entertainment industry for a number of television stations, including Asia Television in Hong Kong.

Recently AdSociety, announced a joint venture with Korea's largest publicly listed advertising agency, LG Advertising, to form AdSociety Korea. The new joint venture will tap the broadband advertising opportunities in Korea, the world's largest broadband market.
