AdSociety Appoints Two Top Executives to Expand its Pan-Asian Broadband Advertising, Marketing & Sales Network

HONG KONG, September 14, 2000 - In line with its aggressive regional roll out, AdSociety - a majority-owned company of Pacific Century Cyberworks (PCCW) and the first pan-Asian broadband advertising, marketing and sales network - today announced the appointment of two senior executives to the company.

AdSociety appoints Mark Brown as its president of Asia Pacific and vice president for regional business development, and Miriam Tong as vice president of regional new ventures and partnership development. Based in Hong Kong and reporting directly to the CEO, Mark and Miriam will lead strategic planning efforts and create new business opportunities for the company in Asia Pacific.

AdSociety is focused on providing broadband advertising, marketing and sales services to PCCW's innovative Network of the World (NOW), the first-ever truly synchronized TV-web service, as well as other PCCW-related companies.

His entrepreneurial and operations management experience in the new economy has been key to our rapid growth over these initial few months, and his engineering and consulting expertise provides the structure and discipline required to make AdSociety a world-class organization." said Patrick Jonathon Wong, founder & CEO of AdSociety. "Mark has already demonstrated strong leadership in expanding our presence in Asia Pacific and will now be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the company."

With her deep knowledge of telecommunications and media-related transactions and regulatory matters, she is uniquely positioned to guide AdSociety's new ventures and partnership development throughout the region. Miriam has been instrumental in developing AdSociety's group structuring and strategic planning and going forth, she will lead all risk management activities - a crucial component for all start-ups."

Mark Brown brings to AdSociety more than nine years of senior managerial, operational and consulting experience, including five years in Asia, from a wide range of Internet, telecommunications and manufacturing companies. Prior to his key appointment at AdSociety, he was a founding member and the chief operating officer for CareerNext.com Ltd., a regional online recruiting services company headquartered in Hong Kong. He also gained extensive strategic and operations consulting experience from Deloitte Consulting leading projects for many of the leading wireless and wireline telecom operators, equipment manufacturers and ISPs throughout Asia and North America. Mark has also held management positions with Bell Northern Research (a division of Northern Telecom) and General Motors of Canada. Mark has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, Canada and a BSc in Systems Engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute, USA.

Miriam Tong is a qualified solicitor and has over five years experience with legal and partnership issues across Asia Pacific. Prior to joining AdSociety, Miriam was an associate attorney of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, one of America's leading law firms, based in Hong Kong and was a key member of the firm's Asia Commercial Practice Group and Asia Communications Practice Group. Miriam also brings to AdSociety her direct experience in international joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment and corporate finance matters. Miriam has been recognized as one of the top ranking lawyers worldwide with her mentions in the Who's Who in the World 2000 and Who's Who in the World 2001, to be published later this year. She has also been awarded the "Outstanding Achievement Award" and recognized as one of the Outstanding People of the 20th Century by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England. Miriam graduated from the University of Toronto and holds a Joint Specialist Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science with a minor degree in East Asian Studies.
