AdSociety Expands Pan-Asian Presence and Pushes for Leadership in Greater China with Three Senior Executive Appointments

HONG KONG, October 12, 2000 - AdSociety, the first pan-Asian broadband advertising marketing and sales network, today officially announced the set-up of its operations in Greater China and appointed three senior executives to lead its aggressive expansion into these markets.

AdSociety, a majority-owned joint venture company of Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW), was launched in Hong Kong in September this year. Its' Greater China offices are located in Beijing and Taiwan. The three senior executives appointed for the Greater China region are: Fanny Chu, vice president for Greater China; Philip Wong, vice president of China; and Sean Wu, general manager for Taiwan

AdSociety currently provides advertising, marketing and sales services to PCCW's innovative Network of the World (NOW), the first-ever truly synchronized TV-web service, and other PCCW-related companies as well as provides pioneering online marketing solutions to both advertisers and media owners. AdSociety now operates from seven cities across Asia Pacific, namely in Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Taiwan, and Tokyo.

As the vice president for Greater China, Fanny oversees the company's sales operations in the Greater China region. Philip heads the overall business and operational responsibilities for the China market. Sean fills the same role for Taiwan market. All will report directly to the company's president for Asia Pacific, Mark Brown, who is based in Hong Kong.

AdSociety aims to become the market leader for broadband and online advertising sales in Greater China where, according to IDC, by 2004, China's Internet community is expected be exceed 33 million people with an estimated US$65 million in online advertising revenue in 2001.

Patrick added: "Fanny, Philip and Sean have immense experience and understanding of the unique business needs in China and Taiwan. We are extremely confident with the team assembled, each bringing to the company their in-depth expertise, specialised market know-how and guan xi, to create the leading position in the broadband advertising landscape."

Fanny joined AdSociety from Stareastnet.com, one of Asia's premier entertainment and lifestyle portals, where she held the position of vice president, Greater China Sales and Marketing. Previously, Fanny was the vice president, Greater China at Star TV, the leading satellite broadcasting network in Asia, where she played an instrumental role in developing many of their key accounts. In her last three years at Star TV, Fanny was responsible for international sales focusing on one of Star TV's popular channels, Phoenix Chinese Channel.

Philip Wong was formerly deputy director of International Sales of Pheonix Satellite TV, headquartered in Hong Kong. He was one of the pioneers of Phoenix Satellite TV and subsequently led it to become one of the fastest growing and most popular satellite TV channels in China and the region. As Phoenix TV's general manager for Shanghai in 1998, Philip's leadership drove many significant milestones; most notably growing the company's sales revenue ten-fold over his two year tenure. Prior to Phoenix TV's launch, Philip was with Star TV Advertising Sales for China.

Before joining AdSociety, Sean was a marketing director for DoubleClick Asia, a regional online advertising network. He played a major role in the launch of DoubleClick's Taiwan operations and has since built the company to become a leader in the market. Sean also has a history as a successful entrepreneur. He co-founded 5415.com, an Internet search company targeting China market with offices in New York, Hangzhou and Chicago and within a year, 5415.Com became the leading Chinese-language search service in Shanghai-Hangzhou area. Sean has also worked for several New York City-based media and marketing companies, including World Journal, the most circulated Chinese daily newspaper in the U.S.; LLT International, a leading ethnic market ad agency; and EastWest Communications, a multi-media marketing company.
