AdSociety Expands to Southeast Asia; New Office in Singapore to Deliver Broadband and Online Advertising Solitions for the Region

Appoints New General Manager for Southeast Asia; Based in Singapore

HONG KONG - November 22, 2000 - AdSociety, the first pan-Asian broadband advertising marketing and sales network, today officially announced the establishment of its operations for Southeast Asia. The Singapore-based office will oversee the expansion of AdSociety's services across the Southeast Asia markets.

AdSociety, a majority-owned joint venture company of Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW), was launched in Hong Kong in July this year. The Singapore office will be the centre of operations for the Southeast Asia region where AdSociety considers a key market for leading advertisers and a rich hub for premium media owners.

AdSociety currently provides advertising, marketing and sales services to PCCW's innovative Network of the World (NOW) and other PCCW-related companies as well as provides pioneering online marketing solutions to both advertisers and member websites. In addition to Singapore, AdSociety also operates from seven other cities across Asia Pacific, namely in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Sydney, Taiwan, and Tokyo. It has recently announced a joint venture with Korea's largest publicly listed advertising agency, LG Advertising, to form AdSociety Korea to tap on the broadband advertising opportunities in the world's largest broadband market.

AdSociety aims to become the market leader for broadband and online advertising sales in Southeast Asia where, according to Salomon Smith Barney, by 2002, Southeast Asia's Internet community is expected to exceed 8 million users.

"The governments in Southeast Asia are proactively pushing for infrastructure projects that will facilitate and support the rapid growth of Internet traffic, particularly broadband Internet access. These are encouraging signs very necessary for the proliferation of broadband content development and subscriber growth," said Patrick Jonathan Wong, founder and CEO for AdSociety. "The set-up of our Southeast Asian operations spearheads our initiative to support the rapid growth of broadband advertising and to quickly become the partner of choice in the new economy media in the region."

In addition to the new office announcement, AdSociety today also announced the appointment of Bernard Chin as AdSociety's general manager for Southeast Asia. Bernard has overall responsibility for the company's current operations in Singapore and is responsible for expanding AdSociety's services across the region.

Bernard, a seasoned and experienced online media executive, was previously a director and general manager of Real Media in Singapore, where he developed and captured a significant share of the online advertising market. Bernard played a key role in the successful branding of the company as a global interactive advertising network in Singapore and spearheaded various successful initiatives including the launch of its Internet advertising management technology. Additionally, Bernard has more than ten years of sales and marketing experience in print, interactive and outdoor media organizations including the PubliPromotion Network, World Executive Digest, Goldtron Interactive, and Pearl and Dean.

Commenting on Bernard's appointment, Patrick said, "Bernard has a proven track record in managing and delivering results for a number of successful media sales organizations, we are extremely confident with Bernard on board as our team leader for the Southeast Asian operations, we will very quickly secure market leadership position in the broadband advertising arena."
