Raymond So, aged 44, is currently Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing of PCCW. He joined PCCW in July, 2000 to establish the company's B2C business in Taiwan and also the sales & marketing organization for its B2C Asia business unit.
Before joining PCCW, Raymond was the Chairman & CEO of J. Walter Thompson (JWT) North East Asia. He was also executive vice president and director of JWT Worldwide. Raymond started his advertising career in 1981 at DDB Needham Hong Kong and joined JWT in 1986 to set up JWT China, where he was one of the pioneers in developing the advertising industry in the country. Under his supervision, many international brands like Lux and IBM were introduced to Chinese consumers through successful advertising campaigns. Well known for his entrepreneurial fortitude, Raymond was subsequently asked to establish JWT operations in Taiwan. JWT Taiwan became the leading agency in the market within 5 years and enjoyed high recognition in the industry. Following this success, Raymond was promoted to North East Asia Area Director in 1997. Raymond is a very active industry leader in the Greater China region. He served as Chairman of the 4As in Taiwan from 1992 to 1994. He is now executive director of Taipei Association of Advertising Agencies and secretary general of IAA Taipei Chapter. He is also a frequent speaker in business and advertising seminars in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Raymond holds a Bachelor degree of Social Science majoring in Sociology and an MBA degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. |
